NY Mask Mandate Update 02/10/22

The Governor announced yesterday that the statewide mask mandate was lifted as of today. There were a number of exceptions to this, including for health care settings.

We are seeking more clarity on what "health care settings" means. Until we have final clarity, we believe that health care setting does include doctor of chiropractic offices.

Further, it is important to remember that with the lifting of the mandate at the statewide level, it still allows different localities, like NYC, and businesses to make their own decisions regarding masks, so you should be aware of your local rules and regulations. In addition, there is CDC guidance still in effect that states masks are generally recommended in all healthcare settings, including doctor’s offices.

We also want to remind everyone that the NY HERO ACT is the law in New York. Per the HERO ACT, employers must follow the guidelines issued by the Department of Labor, which require employees to wear masks at work through February 15. The Department of Labor has indicated that the NY HERO ACT guidance will be updated; but as of right now, the mask mandate for employees is in place.

We will send further guidance and information as it becomes available.
