NYSCA Announces Removal of Practice Restrictions
The NYSCA is pleased to share the good news. Updated guidance has been released that chiropractic offices can resume providing the full breadth of chiropractic services. The prior restriction to “emergency chiropractic services” is no longer in place. This was accomplished with the update of the definition of Essential Business being changed to ''chiropractic services". All chiropractic services are now considered essential throughout the entire state of New York.
We know our members and chiropractic patients have been looking forward to this day. We are grateful that it is finally here. Chiropractic patients can now again benefit, not only the treatment and management of urgent and acute conditions, but also the face-to-face interactions with their chiropractor and hands-on care aimed at promoting optimal function, creating true wellness, and supporting healthy lifestyles.
A huge thank you is due to Amy Kellogg, Esq of Harter, Secrest and Emery for her tireless efforts to communicate the necessity and importance of chiropractic care during these difficult times. Recognition should also go to the Council, NY PT Association, NY Chapter of the AMTA, and the other conservative care collaborators in this process.
As you resume these services in your practice, the NYSCA has prepared several resources to assist you in reopening and reigniting your practice. In your email and on nysca.con there are template letters to communicate with patients and providers. There is signage for your office designed to reassure patients of the safety procedures your office is following.
The NYSCA has also created social media messages that you can use to help welcome back routine chiropractic patients and alert your community to this development as New York moves forward.
Please also take a moment to review the NYSCA’s “Reopening and Reigniting Your Practice Guide” as it serves to remind you of the PPE requirements, disinfecting standards, and other necessary aspects of providing safe and effective chiropractic care to the highest standard. Please also recall that you must have a safety plan in place, which can be accomplished using the online template. Keep an eye on https://forward.ny.gov as developments and requirements for business are posted.
THANK YOU for being a NYSCA member. Together we will grow through this crisis.
I look forward to the day when chiropractic is again thriving in New York.
Jason Brown, DC
NYSCA President
