Given the failed efforts by Congress to avoid the looming cuts to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule slated to take effect Tuesday, July 1, 2008, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has intervened. The Agency announced that they would essentially freeze the Fee Schedule at its current levels for a period of ten days. That allows Congress three days to address the matter once they return from recess for the July 4th Holiday.
