The New York State Chiropractic Association (NYSCA) is pleased to announce that the 2025 election period for NYSCA Officers and Directors is now officially open. Voting will be conducted online through AssociationVoting.com, and ballots will remain open from May 1 through May 15, 2025.
We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the NYSCA members who joined us for our virtual membership meeting last night! It was great to connect, share updates, and hear from so many of you who continue to support and strengthen our chiropractic community across New York State.
In an exciting development for the profession, NYSCA President Dr. Anthony Palumbo has announced the creation of a new NYSCA Committee on Chiropractic Science, Philosophy, and Art. After his term as President concludes on May 31, 2025, Dr. Palumbo will chair this committee with the goal of fostering collaborative dialogue among chiropractors and chiropractic students of all backgrounds and alma maters.
More than 275 attendees hailing from ten different states, along with fifty different exhibitors and event sponsors, helped raise the attendance bar to new heights at the NYSCA 2025 Spring Convention, held March 28-30 at Mohegan Sun Casino and Resort in Uncasville, CT.
Governance elections for the NYSCA Officers and Regional Directors are beginning to ramp up. Members interested in campaigning for a position on the NYSCA Executive Board or Board of Directors should start planning now.
The NYSCA offers its members opportunities to serve in a volunteer capacity on a variety of committees and workgroups for the benefit of the profession in New York State.
At the ChiroCongress annual meeting, held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Grand Hyatt Denver in Colorado, Dr. Gerald Stevens was elected as 2nd Vice President of the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations. Dr. Stevens also continues to serve as a member of the ChiroCongress Cares Board and on the NYSCA Executive Board as the NYSCA Treasurer.

Arlington, Va. – The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) and doctors of chiropractic nationwide will celebrate National Chiropractic Health Month this October with the theme “Plan for a Strong Healthspan.” The campaign will raise awareness of the importance of a strong musculoskeletal (MSK) system for healthy aging and the benefits of chiropractic care.
On March 27th, Highmark released a new training video for prior authorization specific to Chiropractic care. Although the process outlined is similar to the previous videos released, there are some important differences. There is additional information regarding self-funded groups as well.
As noted in our previous communication, Highmark BCBS of Western NY and Northeastern NY is implementing a prior authorization program for certain services rendered by DCs, PTs, OTs and home care providers. Prior authorization is required for applicable Highmark members for services rendered on or after May 1, 2024 (including those patients who were under care prior to that date).
The NYSCA would like to flag a recent practice alert that was issued by the New York State Board of Chiropractic that you should have all received in your email. We know that you get a lot of email, but this was an important practice alert, and we wanted to make sure you received it and understand the context for the alert.

The NYSCA has seven standing committees in place to assist our members and coordinate efforts to protect, promote, and support the profession in the state of New York.
