Dr. Kristina Petrocco-Napuli

Dr. Petrocco-Napuli's Presentations: "Patient Centered Care for Women's Health: A Focus on Chronic Pelvic Pain" on Saturday 3/10/18 at 10am and "The Epidemic of Opioid Misuse in Special Populations" on Saturday 3/10/18 at 2pm. (For complete conference information and schedules, click here.)

How did you become interested in the topic you are presenting?
Many years ago while I was working on a women’s surgical floor I would see many patients returning for surgical procedures for the same or similar conditions. It made me begin to think that there must be another and better way to help these patients. That began my interest and I started to focus on learning as much as I could about women's health. In addition, I have been focusing on opioid misuse and pain, women are more likely to report chronic pain they are also more likely to use an opioid.

Who should attend your presentation and why?
All practitioner's should attend as there are so many conditions which impact the female population in which chiropractors can assist in helping the patient heal.

What about your presentation topic (or you) may surprise people?
The amount of adolescents and children being impacted by opioids.

Are there any new developments in your specialty/topic area that make your presentation at the NYSCA 2018 Spring Convention especially relevant or timely?
The statistics surrounding opioid misuse in special populations is shocking and not always focused on by the media and practitioners.

What’s your best advice to a recent chiropractic college graduate or someone who has been in the field for several years and is looking for new challenges or ways to expand their practice?
Learn as much as you can and be the best practitioner you can be... My mentor always said "treat the patient not the pocket"... no matter what always be patient centered and provide the best care possible.
