Member Q&A: Chiropractic and Adjusting Animals

Our Members Ask:

I'm a chiropractor, recently moved back to NY and will be getting my license here, will then be interested in adjusting animals, primarily dogs and horses. I'm wondering what the laws of the state are. Some questions that come to mind:

Do I need any specific certification? Does a vet need to be physically present, or just need to give a written OK for the animal to be adjusted, or would vet approval not be needed at all? Am I allowed to charge? Are there any specifications about me making house calls (for horses I'd of course be doing that)? Anything I need to add into my malpractice?
