Sexual Harassment Prevention Training required by NYS & NYC

New York State Law requires that employers of one or more employees must conduct sexual harassment prevention training for all employees. Additionally, New York City Local Law 96 of 2018 requires employers with 15 or more employees are required to conduct annual sexual harassment prevention training for all employees.

As a reminder, each employee must receive training on an annual basis, starting October 9, 2018.  To assist with this, the New York City Commission on Human Rights has launched an online training program for employers based in New York City that is compliant with New York State requirements.

In addition, every employer in New York State is required to adopt a sexual harassment prevention policy. A model policy has been provided by New York State and is accessible on the page linked below.

The NYSCA continues to encourage its members to review this information and take appropriate action to maintain compliance with New York State laws and regulations.
